| Summary: This prospective study of the treatment of severe lateral ankle sprains with a pneumatic splint (Aircast) found that "the functional treatment, by pneumatic splint, guarantees excellent results." The authors stated several advantages of treatment with an Aircast pneumatic splint: "(1) It ensures almost certain healing. (2) It permits immediate self rehabilitation. (3) It permits a rapid return to work and athletic activities. (4) It helps to keep health costs down without compromising the quality of the care." |
