Treatment of Acute Ankle Sprain: Comparison of a Semi-Rigid Ankle Brace and Compression Bandage in 73 Patients
Source: Leanderson J, Wredmark T: Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica 66(6): 529-531, 1995
Summary: This randomized prospective study of the treatment of ankle sprains (grade II and III) with either an Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Brace or a compression bandage within the first 24 hours of injury found that the ankle brace treatment group was "more mobile in the initial phase of rehabilitation and had a shorter sick leave. Ankle brace treatment resulted in socioeconomic savings."
